PosterGenius™ 1.5 is indeed fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 7. There are some issues, in some computers with Windows 8. If you use Windows 8 and are unsure about proceeding, please get in touch with us via our Support page.

For users of older versions of PosterGenius only.

Upgrading to PosterGenius 1.5 resolves the issues described below.

In case you receive a message "An error has occured" when launching PosterGenius

An issue that might be observed on some computers running Windows 7, with PosterGenius not loading up, relates to the version of Java installed.

Specifically, if the Java installed on the computer is newer than the one that is included with the PosterGenius installation, chances are that PosterGenius will not start on Windows 7 and a window with the message above will pop-up.

Troubleshooting

Downgrading your Java

To troubleshoot this you will need to downgrade the version of Java installed on your system. To do so, please follow the steps below:

1. From the Start menu, go to the Control Panel >> Uninstall a Program
2. Select and uninstall any Java which is newer than Java(TM) 6 Update 5 which comes with PosterGenius
3. Start PosterGenius. The application should now start without any errors.

Ιf you are not sure which version of Java to uninstall

Please follow the steps below:

1. uninstall all Java versions found in your system, from the Control Panel as described above,
1. either reinstall PosterGenius, or
2. go to C:\Program Files\SciGen\PosterGenius\, locate the file jre-6u5-windows-i586-p-s.exe and double click to run it.
2. This will reinstall the version of Java needed to run PosterGenius on your computer.
